Paint Set

At some point, you have to move past the watercolors and little containers of washable paint.  My son has been at that point for awhile and I finally accepted it and bought him this.  He loves it!  He is currently working on his first project.  Right now we are still experimenting with the various brushes and can be used and with making sure we only use as much paint as needed.  This might actually be the most challenging part so far because we typically end up squeezing the paint out harder than intended and getting a much bigger glob of it on the tray.  And of course, there is really no way to put the excess back in so it ends up going to waste.
  Luckily this doesn't chnage the fundamental use of learning how to use a different type of paint than ever used before.  Learning how much paint to put on the brush, how the clean the brush between colors, and how to work on evenly spreading it for consistance coverage is invaluable and this is the perfect set to learn on.  The number of colors in plenty for anything that we could think to do and also gives even more options when you work on mixing colors to lighten or darken what you have and/or to make an entirely new color.  These things are rather difficult with the cheaper types of paint so it has been a hugely wonderful learning experience.
Added to that is the fact that it came with a piece of stretched canvas.  Entirely different to work with than any type of paper.  Yet another learning process and another technique to master.  As someone who loves art, this has been, and continues to be, an amazing set and an awesome learning project!
