Ultrasonic Pest Repellent

I'm truly not sure if these repell bugs, attract them, or do nothing either way. We recently moved to an entirely new area (different state and region of the country) so, with this being our first Spring in the area, I have no prior experience to go off of. Prior to getting these, we were dealing with what I figured was typical for the area at the time of year. But, I still wasn't thrilled with bugs in my house, especially ones I am not familiar with and haven't seen before.
After I had gotten these and had them plugged in for a few days, we noticed that there seemed to be even more bugs that had made their way into the house. But, during that time, we also had a large amount of rain.
So, at this point, I am not confident about the effect of these devices. It could be that they they had no effect at all and we were dealing with the same amount of bugs we would have been without these. Unfortunately, it could laso be that these attracted more bugs to us. But, there is also the possibility that they do work and if we hadn't been using them, we would have been dealing with even more bugs.
Either way, I was not comfortable with the number of bugs that made it into our house here and I ultimately called the professionals to come treat the house.
