My husband was also very active as a teen in sports and then joined the military. Needless to say, his ankles, knees, and other joints have been taking a beating and having stopped. He never went to the doctor about his ankle so I think it was just a sprain. Well, that or sympathy pains for me. Either way, I bought him an ankle brace too. He prefers the ones that have the heel cut out so I had to get him a different one. But, so far so good.
He claims that it really helps support his ankle during running, which was a major concern since he sometimes runs on really crappy roads and paths. It also helps him feel more secure on his ankle.
As you can tell, it is a little big on me but it fits him perfectly. He wears it most of the time, just forgot it this morning as we were all rushing to get out of the house.
